ZZ2 Livestock Division in cooperation with ZZ2 Ceres’ Harry Pohl introduced the Pinzgauer breed to this cold, mountainous area in the Western Cape. The Koue Bokkeveld Pinzgauers were specifically selected by Paul Bester to withstand the cold winters of this area with temperatures often plummeting below 0ºC. The ability of the Pinzgauer to walk long distances to forage makes the breed ideal for rocky terrain. The Koue Bokkeveld Pinzgauer Stud competed in the 2008 National Championships. The even tempered Pinzgauers made a lasting impression on stud breeders in the Western Cape when they competed in a youth show at Agri Mega Week in Bredasdorp, 2010. The Koue Bokkeveld Pinzgauer Stud returned to Mooketsi, Limpopo, in 2011.
